He must now look in the mirror, knowing that his assumption of guilt led him to put an innocent man behind bars while the real murderer roamed free. While defending his current client from an assault and battery charge, he is faced with the prospect of trying to right a wrong he committed years ago.

Every human being will make mistakes as they go through life’s journey. The most important thing is to learn from those mistakes and make efforts to right the wrongs we’ve made along the way. The audience feels attorney Mickey Haller’s passion as he tells a friend he failed his innocent client years ago. It is his dedication to finding a solution that makes his actions admiral and relatable.

• Outmaneuvering the Opposition

Mickey Haller ultimately finds a solution that satisfies both his professional obligation and his moral dilemma. He leads the unknowing prosecution team to enlist the services of a prison informant. While they are unaware that the informant’s conflict of interest will damage their assault and battery case against Haller’s client, his testimony also brings to light the fact that the defendant committed a murder for which another man was tried and convicted. By getting an acquittal for his client while simultaneously producing evidence that leads to his arrest for murder, Haller has killed two birds with one stone. A serial killer will finally be tried for his crimes. An innocent man who was wrongfully convicted will eventually be set free.

We will all be faced with a moral dilemma at some point in our lives; the important thing is how we choose to deal with it. Taking care of our new Kittens

 We have more additions to our house hold menagerie, I would like to introduce you to Tango and Cash. Two mischievous kittens who happened to wonder into our backyard and we immediately connected. Actually the connection occurred between my daughters and the Kittens, before I entered the picture, but someone has to buy the food and provide

 shelter. So you could say that the kittens were orphans, but no longer, now they are part of our family, and can stay for as long as they like.

They have free range of the backyard, and are separated from our dwarf rabbits, Jellybean and Jam. At the moment we have to be very careful that there is no interaction at this stage with George and Willow our Green Cheek Cinnamon Conures’ more on their progress in another post. For now we are all getting to know each other. Ensuring that the kittens were checked for intestinal parasites, so we brought a fresh stool sample to the Veterinarian so they could prescribe medication to kill most of the intestinal parasites. Our Vet is beginning to know us quite well these days. As we had their eyes, ears, teeth and gums checked as a precaution.

At the time the photo was taken, we estimate the kittens to be about 3 months old, if any of you reading this post have a keen eye, could you let us know the breed of cat they are, all we are getting is that they are a couple of mixes in there, so not one predominate breed. At the moment we are trying to get the kittens used to be handled, that is via stroking and grooming at least once a day, but the kids are doing this more than once I can assure you. After advice from the Vet, we took a good look at their eyes, ears, mouth, paws, nails, skin and coat. As we would like to find problems early before they become serious.

Anyway, we have been taking care of Tango and Cash the best way we can, and that involves a lot of love and attention. Another factor is nutrition, so we provide a protein rich and energy filled diet. They have a very healthy appetite, as they can eat up to 3 – 4 times daily. The kittens have taken a liking to canned kitten food, it seems to mimic the natural diet both in consistency and formulation. We are trying to mix this up between canned and dry foods, its trial and error for us at the moment, but I’m sure we will get there.

We understand that this is likely to change from 6 months, less feeding but with more quantity, and we will cross that bridge when we get to it. Right now we are interested in getting to know Tango and Cash, and them us, paying particular attention to the social aspect of the kittens, as we don’t want them to fear being around people. So we are actively involved in the process, and ensure the kittens have proper development whether they remain with us or not. As mentioned previously we have quite a few pets, dog, rabbits and birds so ensuring they all get along is a very important aspect that we take seriously. We understand that some dogs cannot decipher a cat from a rabbit and we have both, but daisy our shiatsu terrier doesn’t seem to mind. Regardless, proper inter-species interaction, and overall behavior requires hands-on, responsible and sustained social development which we think includes the following;

Time outs for bad behavior, although I think we only used this once

Ensuring they are rewarded for good behavior, usually with treats, this happens very frequently

Exploration of boxes, paper bags, newspapers, etc.

Litter box training

Petting them frequently and providing them with toys.

Redirecting them when they start to bite or scratch.

Introducing them to extended families and friends.

Grooming at least once a week.

Exploring areas around the house.

The major reason why we procrastinate is because we are not motivated enough. And there isn’t one single factor that determines motivation. In this article we discuss the three factors that influence self motivation.

I know that I am supposed to do a particular activity like an assignment, or study a book or write letters. But I tend to postpone these indefinitely, citing various excuses.

The major reason why we procrastinate is because we are not motivated enough. Being a mentor for a bunch of young talented students in a leading MBA college allows me in a position where I can see lack of self motivation as one of the biggest stumbling blocks in student and professional life.

And there isn’t one single factor that determines motivation.

Charles Handy talks about 3 things that are required in the motivational calculus.

1. I should know my needs. These can be the need for security, for money, food, clothing and shelter, or need for companionship, or need for approval, or a need to fulfill my debt to various people.
2. I should know the result of which activity would satisfy these all or some of these needs.
3. I should have the energy or the resources (money, time etc.) to spend on those activities.

The above are multiplicative. That is, if any of the three is not there, I would not be motivated.

If I do not know my needs, then no activity would motivate me.

If I do not have the energy or the resources, then I cannot finish the activity satisfactorily.

If I do not know how to satisfy my needs, then I will not be motivated.

Therefore, I have to link the activity (that I dislike) to a need. For example, if I fear that I will fail a course, and therefore have a need to pass it and get rid of my fear, I can link an assignment to that need.  If I need the approval of my colleagues, and the distasteful activity will satisfy that need, then I will try to do the activity.

Whether I finish the activity or not is based on the resources at hand. If I do not have the time, or I delayed it so much that I cannot possibly finish, then I am not motivated to do the activity, even if I know that the activity will satisfy a need.

The same principle holds good for motivating others. If I do not know the needs of another person, I cannot offer him an activity, the result of which would satisfy the needs.

If I do know his needs and I can link it to an activity that I want him to do, and I provide him with the means and resources (including training) to do that activity, the person will be motivated.

Remove any of the three (needs, activity or resources) and there will be no motivation.
